How to Buy Reclaimed Building Materials
Buying reclaimed materials is a bit different than heading to your local hardware store.
While there’s an extra step or two involved in the process, we promise we’re here to help you make it easy.
It might even be easier than actually heading to the hardware store. Who wants to deal with waiting in line on a busy weekend?
And because of our unique location in Southern Alberta, we think you’ll like our prices too.
These are our most common questions about buying reclaimed barnwood, but if there’s something we haven’t answered, let us know.
What Are Your Prices?
Barnwood
Our barnwood planks are priced by square foot. Our standard cost for barnwood is $8.00 per square foot.
Dimensional Lumber and Timbers
Dimensional lumber and timbers are priced by board foot. A good rule of thumb is that boards that are over one inch thick will be priced by board foot. One board foot equals a piece of wood 1" thick x 12" x 12". Think in 3D!
For dimensional lumber, our price ranges from $4.00 - $6.00 per board foot.
For reclaimed timbers, our standard cost is $6.00 per board foot.

Every piece that comes in is incredibly unique and we want to make sure you’re getting the best value for your money.
For an accurate price for materials and shipping we recommend filling out an online quote Or you can always give us a call for a quick estimate as well.
How Do I View Available Materials?
Unlike your hardware store, not all of our materials are viewable online.
We know, it seems crazy to say in this day and age.
For every building we deconstruct, we have materials of different lengths, colours, patinas, and weathering that come into our warehouse.
It’s hard to keep our online inventory up to date with materials moving quickly.
While we often have consistent types of materials in stock, like dimensional lumber and barnwood planks, our stock can vary.
How can you then view and shop our materials?
We have a selection of our most common materials available to view on our website.
However, if you don’t see something, give us a call and tell us about what you’re looking for.
Email, text, and even Facetime…we’re real people who will pick up the phone to help you find the best material for your project.
If you want to visit the shop in person and view the products, call or text beforehand to set up an appointment.
How Do I Get The Materials To Me?
We offer shipping across Canada (and even the United States.)
Whether you’re buying flats of wood or a single piece, we’ll find a way to get you your materials if you’re not able to come to the warehouse in-person.
We can get you a shipping quote within a day. And in most cases, we’ll get it straight to your door.
If you’re working within a budget, please call us or submit a free quote and we’ll work together to find an option that works.
We like to think of it this way.
The cost of shipping is comparable to going to the hardware store and loading the materials yourself or the cost of shipping within city limits (which are often higher than normal rates).
Many people are really surprised that our shipping rates are so low.
Why Would I Buy Reclaimed Materials Over Other Products?
We’re going to be honest.
Working with reclaimed wood does take a bit more care and attention than buying other ‘barnwood-like’ products.
We know there are materials on the market that look similar to reclaimed wood and are quick and easy to install.
But, if you want a timeless look from real wood that doesn’t come from a box, then using reclaimed wood is the right choice.
We’re of course a bit biased. Here are a few of the other amazing benefits of using reclaimed wood:
Reclaimed materials don’t often warp like most new lumber. It’s already dried and stable. It’s not susceptible to cracking, warping and twisting like box store lumber.
Reclaimed materials features distinctive textures, patinas, and imperfections that give it a unique and authentic appearance. Often these qualities cannot be replicated in new wood or vinyl products.
Reclaimed materials are often sourced from old-growth trees, which are known for their strength and durability. It can withstand wear and tear and is suitable for various applications, from flooring to furniture.
Reclaimed materials are an environmentally responsible choice. By repurposing wood from old structures, we reduce the demand for new timber and help reduce your carbon footprint.
Reclaimed materials, when properly maintained, can last for generations, providing long-term value.
Why Are Your Prices So Much Lower?
The typical range for reclaimed barnwood in the market is $10 - $12/square foot (it can even go up to $20!)
Our prices for reclaimed wood is lower than many of our competitors because of our unique location in Pincher Creek, Alberta. Our prices are $8.00/square foot for barnwood and cladding and start at $4.00/board foot for dimensional lumber, planks, and timbers.
About 2 hours south of Calgary and 1.5 hours east of Fernie, British Columbia, many of our materials come from our own backyard.
Because of that, we’re able to keep our prices lower for the same (if not better!) high-quality materials you’re going to get in the city.
